Manuscript Submission Guidelines: Alternatives Journal
Peer Review Policy
Alternatives Journal adheres to a double-blind reviewing policy in which the identity of both the reviewer and author are always concealed from both parties.
Article Types
The submission of material for consideration as a main article, a book review, or an essay is welcomed by the editor. Manuscripts must be original and not currently under review elsewhere.
Main articles and essays should normally be within 4-12,000 words, and under no circumstances longer than 15,000 words, including all notes and references. Book reviews should not be more than 1500 words.
How to Submit Your Manuscript
Before submitting your manuscript, please ensure you carefully read and adhere to all the guidelines and instructions to authors provided below. Manuscripts not conforming to these guidelines may be returned. Alternatives Journal has a web-based system for the submission of manuscripts. All submissions should be made online on the Alternatives Journal website.
Note: Online submission and review of manuscripts is mandatory for all types of papers.
New User Account
Please log onto the website. If you are a new user, you will first need to create an account. Follow the instructions and please ensure you enter a current and valid e-mail address. Creating your account is a single-step process that takes a matter of minutes to complete.
Full instructions for uploading the manuscript are provided on the Alternatives Journal website.
New Submission
Submissions should be made by logging in and click Submission button on the top of the screen. Please read the Copyright Transfer Form and check the box in order to send your manuscript. Follow the instructions on each page and summit the necessary information about your manuscript.
To upload your files please use Firefox as a browser, click on the Browse button and locate the file on your computer. Select the designation of each file (i.e. main document, submission form, figure) in the drop down next to the browse button. When you have selected all files you wish to upload, click the Upload Files button. You can also log back into your author account at any time to check the status of your manuscript.
Please ensure that you submit editable/source files only (Microsoft Word) and that your document does not include page numbers. The system of Alternatives Journal will generate them for you, and then convert your manuscript to PDF for peer review. All correspondence, including notification of the Editors decision and requests for revisions, will be done by e-mail or your user account.

Submitting a Revised Manuscript
Authors submitting revised manuscripts should follow the instructions above to submit through the system of Alternatives. To create a revision, go to the Submission option in your Author Dashboard and select My Article. At the right bottom of the screen, you will see the Update File Option. You need to re-upload the revised copy of your manuscript in conformity with the guidelines.
Manuscript Style
File Types
Only electronic files in conformity with the Journals guidelines will be accepted. Formats for the text and tables of your manuscript should be in Word DOC.
Reference Style
Alternatives Journal operates a Chicago reference style. Please use the link http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html to ensure your manuscript conforms to this reference style.
Manuscript Preparation
The text should be single-spaced and with 2,5cm margins for all sides. The font of the text should be Times New Roman and the size of the body text should be 11 points. Please Use Endnotes- instead of Footnotes- which is Times New Roman and 10 point size like quotations. Abstracts should be between 200-400 words and should be written with italic, 10 point Times New Roman. There should not be paragraph indentation after titles. Besides, paragraph indentation and also quotation indentation (both for left and right side) should be 1,25 cm.

The title, keywords and abstract are key to ensuring readers find your article online through online search engines such as Google. Please refer to the information and guidance on how best to title your article.

Corresponding Author Contact Details
Provide full contact details for the corresponding author including email, mailing address and telephone number. Academic affiliations are required for all co-authors. These details should be presented separately to the main text of the article to facilitate anonymous peer review.
